Activation Devices
Push-To-Open Plate
The diagram shows a standard push plate connected to:
- Inner Operate
- Overhead Presence Detection (OPD)
Activation causes the door to open automatically.
Key Switch
A keyed switch may be connected to the:
Key Operate input.
Typical uses:
- Restricted access
- Staff-only entrances
- Security-controlled doors
Motion Detector Connections
A motion detector can be connected to the CUP controller.
The detector output is wired through the programmable input terminals.
Applications include:
- Approach activation
- Presence sensing
- Automatic opening
Safety Devices
Presence Sensor
Connected through:
- Presence Sensor input
- Presence Detection input
Used to prevent door movement when a person is within the detection zone.
Contact Safety Mat
Connected to:
TB1 Terminal 8
Used to stop or reverse the door when occupied.
EXS Extension Unit (Optional)
The optional EXS Expansion Unit provides additional control inputs.

Slave Operator Configuration
When using paired operators:
CUP “Slave” Connections
Connect synchronization wiring between:
- Master operator
- Slave operator
Programming Notes:
- PMD Function 08 = 00
- PMD Function 09 = 00
- PMD Function 16 = Same value as Master
This ensures coordinated operation between paired doors.
Three-Position Program Switch
The diagram shows a three-position selector switch connected to TB1.
Installation Requirements
- Mount where easily accessible.
- Mount within view of the controlled door.
- Ensure the user can see the door while operating the switch.
Switch Functions
Hold Open
Short terminals:
3 & 4
Door remains open.
Hold Closed
Short terminals:
4 & 8
Door remains closed.
Important Safety Warning
If the selector switch is placed in the OFF position and Push Reactivation is enabled, the door will continue to operate when activated.
Verify operating mode during commissioning and testing.
Notes
- VisionPulse and VisionPulse S sensor wiring is covered in separate manuals.
- Always verify correct grounding and fuse ratings.
- Ensure safety devices are tested after installation.
- Follow ANSI/BHMA requirements when commissioning automatic doors.
