DOR-O-MATIC 81460-XXX Push Arm & Link Assembly
The DOR-O-MATIC 81460-XXX Arm and Link Assembly is designed for use with surface-mounted Astro-Swing®, Senior-Swing®, and Middle-Swing® automatic door operators in push-side applications.
This guide provides attachment point requirements and link length recommendations for various door pivot configurations to ensure proper operator performance and smooth door operation.
Compatible Operators
The 81460-XXX Arm and Link Assembly is compatible with:
- Astro-Swing Automatic Door Operators
- Senior-Swing Automatic Door Operators
- Middle-Swing Automatic Door Operators
Application Type
- Surface-mounted operators
- Push-side door operation
Installation Overview
Before installation:
- Verify the operator case is mounted correctly above the door.
- Determine the door pivot configuration.
- Measure the reveal depth.
- Adjust the secondary link length according to the appropriate chart.
- Verify spindle adapter alignment.
The secondary link length is measured from the centerline of one turnbuckle connection to the centerline of the opposite turnbuckle connection.
Offset Pivot & Butt-Hinged Doors
Application
For surface-applied operators with push arms installed on:
- Offset pivot doors
- Standard butt-hinged doors
Requirements
- Minimum reveal: 1-1/8″
- Maximum reveal with standard link: 10″
Link Length Selection
The secondary link length increases as reveal depth increases.
Typical adjustment range:
- Approximately 6-1/2″ secondary link length at minimum reveal
- Up to approximately 15″ secondary link length at maximum reveal
2-3/4″ Center-Pivoted Doors
Application
For surface-applied operators with push arms on doors utilizing a 2-3/4″ center pivot.
Requirements
- Minimum reveal: 1″
- Maximum reveal with standard link: 8″
Link Length Selection
Typical adjustment range:
- Approximately 11″ secondary link length at minimum reveal
- Up to approximately 19″ secondary link length at maximum reveal
3-3/4″ Center-Pivoted Doors
Application
For surface-applied operators with push arms on doors utilizing a 3-3/4″ center pivot.
Requirements
- Minimum reveal: 1″
- Maximum reveal with standard link: 9″
Link Length Selection
Typical adjustment range:
- Approximately 10″ secondary link length at minimum reveal
- Up to approximately 18″ secondary link length at maximum reveal
Spindle Adapter Alignment
Proper spindle adapter alignment is critical for reliable operator performance.
Factory Alignment
The spindle adapter is factory-installed with the slot positioned:
- Two notches off centerline
This position is suitable for most standard installations.
Adjustment Guidelines
- Re-align the adapter if required during installation.
- Ensure spindle slots are correctly aligned with the operator arm.
- For center-pivot applications, slots should not be rotated more than five notches in either direction from the factory position.
Determining Link Length
To determine the correct secondary link length:
- Measure the reveal depth from the face of the door to the back of the operator housing.
- Locate the reveal depth on the horizontal axis of the chart.
- Follow the measurement vertically until it intersects the application line.
- Read the corresponding secondary link length from the vertical scale.
This method provides the correct center-to-center measurement for the turnbuckle assembly.
