At Cypress, we love doors and glass, and for us, it’s not enough to be “good” we need to be the best. Door service and storefront installation training is something we do weekly with the entire company at our morning meetings, regardless of their department. In addition to weekly safety training on ladders, lifts, PPE, etc. we also require all of our service and installation techs to have their OSHA 30.
Cypress has numerous mock setups around our 11,000 sqft facility to train our service technicians both new and experienced. Our department training supervisors hold weekly training where we will drop a door, install a new type of panic hardware, dismantle an automatic door and rebuild, troubleshoot a problem and discuss what we can be doing better. The techs learn from the trainer and each other.
It doesn’t stop at just doors and windows. At our weekly meetings, we also discuss plan sets, CAD drawings, customer service, and general duties from everyone in the company so that our staff understands everyone else’s roles and responsibilities. The unique way we bring our office staff and installers together has been highly effective in having the best-trained staff in the area.
